General Shout Out…
Join us tonight for our annual Halloween Festival. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. with activities for children of all ages. Families will also have a chance to see the pumpkins from Suyematsu Farms that all the students carved here on campus!
You should have received an email invitation from SignUpGenius to schedule your parent-teacher conference. You may sign up to meet just with your child’s homeroom teacher or you may meet with all of your child’s teachers. Each teacher has their own signup page, and you may meet with them individually or together at a joint conference (just make sure you sign up for the same time slot on each teacher’s page). If you have any questions or need help signing up, please contact Miss Michelle in the office (360-697-7526, firstname.lastname@example.org).
The students received their Talent Show signup sheet today, so look for it in their backpacks! The signed form is due back to school on Tuesday, November 7. Let Miss Crystal know if you have any questions.
Dr. Megan Nightingale with Peninsula Hearing was on campus yesterday testing our students in grades 1, 3, and 5. She also tested new students in grades 2, 4, and 6. If your child did not bring home a letter from Dr. Nightingale, there is no need to worry! She will be back on November 8 to retest some of our students who have had recent colds and/or ear infections. Call Miss Michelle in the office with any questions.
Mr. T’s Take – The Annual Fund…
By the end of October, you will receive our annual fund campaign letter and pledge form. I can’t stress enough how important our annual fund is to the financial health of Silverwood. Simply put, tuition does not cover all the costs of running this school. Our fundraising efforts through the annual fund campaign and our auction help to keep class sizes low, support enrichment classes (science, art, and music), contribute to maintenance and repairs, and most importantly, provide tuition assistance for families who need it.
We will mail around 400 pledge forms to current families, staff, alumni families, and other community members who have supported Silverwood School in the past.
We have a goal of raising $50,000 with 100% of participation from board members, staff, and current families. My request to each of you is to have a conversation with your family about the Annual Fund (including grandparents and other family members), and turn in your pledge form during the month of November.
If you would like to discuss the annual fund in more detail, please call me or stop by my office. Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.
